AI Use

Like almost everyone, I use AI to help me at work, in school, and with personal projects. The reality is that I can accomplish so much more with the help of AI. This page details my philosophy on AI use and how I use AI. This page, like this entire website, is a work in progress.

I believe that AI is a very powerful tool that can be used to increase learning and understanding, offload simple or non-essential tasks, and help broaden skill sets. However, AI should not be used to replace learning or understanding, or as a crutch for putting in less effort for things that matter.

In school, I use AI to create practice problems and explain difficult topics, but not as a way to do homework without understanding it. Similarly, I use AI in research to find relevant papers and gain basic understanding in topics I did not know before. When coding, AI is very useful to fast track the creation of basic code, debug code quickly, and find and show how to use new libraries or functions. While I use code generated by AI, I do still understand what the code is doing and have reviewed it myself. This goes for any way that I use AI. Additionally, I do not use AI to summarize things that I should have read, or to create written documents that assume I am the author.
